Spring is always an exciting time at Parkham Farms. As the Somerset countryside comes alive with new growth, so too does our dairy herd. This year, we're expecting around 40 new calves — each one a vital part of our commitment to maintaining a healthy, pasture-fed herd.
Our cows calve naturally in the fields wherever possible, supported by our experienced team. We believe in low-intervention farming that respects the natural rhythms of the animals and the land.
The spring milk is particularly special for cheesemaking. As the cows move onto the new season's grass, the milk takes on a richer colour and a more complex flavour profile — qualities that will be reflected in the cheeses we make over the coming weeks.
If you'd like to see the calves and learn more about our farming practices, we'll be opening the farm for visits from May. Please get in touch to book your place.
